The Peter J. Gomes Chapel, located on the Bates College campus in Lewiston, Maine, is a multifaith house of prayer and meditation open to all visitors. Built in 1913 and designed in English Collegiate Gothic style inspired by King's College Chapel at Cambridge, the chapel serves as a center for worship, contemplation, concerts, lectures, and special events. The chapel welcomes people of all religious practices and worldviews and features seven banners displaying symbols of major world religions, reflecting its commitment to inclusive spiritual community. Beyond individual prayer and reflection, the chapel hosts vibrant programming including Hearth dinners, the Pause meditation program, Crossroads conversations, and the Multifaith Banquet, all designed to foster meaningful connection and exploration of faith and identity.
