About St. Pius X Church
St. Pius X Church is a Jesuit parish in Portland, Maine, animated by the spirit of St. Ignatius and rooted in the Roman Catholic tradition. The community explicitly welcomes all people—longtime parishioners, newcomers, those seeking a spiritual home, LGBTQ+ members, immigrants, and those who may be separated or divorced. Comprised of an intergenerational community representing 27 area towns, the parish is inspired by Christ's love for all people and the Ignatian vision to find God in all things. Beyond Sunday worship, St. Pius X serves the region through St. Brigid School, which educates nearly 400 students in the Mercy Tradition, and through active outreach rooted in the Jesuit focus on walking with the poor and caring for creation. Visitors and seekers are invited to experience a parish that strives to reflect Gospel values and create space for spiritual growth and community belonging.
