About St Mark's Lutheran Church
St. Mark's Lutheran Church, now part of Emmanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, is located in Adamstown, Maryland, in the historic Carroll Manor area south of Frederick. The congregation's roots trace back to 1766 when Charles Carroll leased land and contributed funds for a Protestant church building shared by Lutheran and Reformed congregations. The current structure was built in 1893 on land donated by D.M. Whipp and dedicated that August, with a Sunday school addition added in 1960. In 2011, St. Mark's joined with St. Luke and St. Matthew to form Emmanuel Trinity Lutheran Church, an ELCA congregation committed to being an extended family of faith. The church serves Frederick County and beyond with a mission to love and serve others while leading them to Christ.
