Christ Episcopal Church in Chaptico, Maryland is one of the oldest churches in continuous use in America, with roots dating back to 1640, only six years after the founding of the Maryland colony. The congregation was officially established in 1692 and the current church building, completed in 1736, reflects the architectural influence of Sir Christopher Wren with its distinctive red brick construction and Flemish bond design. Despite significant damage during the War of 1812, the church has endured and prospered through the devoted stewardship of its members. Today, Christ Church remains a vibrant community welcoming a diverse cross-section of people of varying backgrounds, ages, and spiritual perspectives, committed to proclaiming a lively faith in God and service to others in the name of Christ.
