About Congregation Or Chadash
Congregation Or Chadash is a vibrant and inclusive Reform Jewish community located in Damascus, Maryland, serving the upper Montgomery County suburbs including Clarksburg and Germantown. Founded in September 1984, the congregation now encompasses approximately 125 households and welcomes a diverse mix of singles, families, retirees, interfaith families, and LGBTQ+ members from across multiple counties and the Washington DC region. The congregation promotes Jewish spirituality and lifelong learning centered on Torah, social action, and community building, offering Shabbat services, holiday celebrations, an accredited religious school for Pre-K through 12th grade, weekly Torah study, and various adult learning opportunities. Or Chadash is intentionally designed to be small enough to feel like family while large enough to serve the full range of community needs, and members actively engage in social action causes and participate in numerous social groups for both adults and children.
