About Sugarloaf Congregation
Sugarloaf Congregation of Unitarian Universalists (SCUU) is a liberal, creedless spiritual community in Germantown, Maryland that welcomes people of all beliefs, ages, and backgrounds. Situated on five beautiful acres bordering Seneca Creek State Park, the congregation meets in a charming, wheelchair-accessible yurt and frame house. SCUU offers Sunday worship services at 10:30 a.m. both in-person and via Zoom, featuring diverse sermons focused on community, spirituality, personal growth, and social justice. The community emphasizes the free and responsible search for truth and meaning through the study of world religions, philosophies, and humanist teachings, inviting visitors to bring their whole selves and participate fully in congregational life.

Service Format: Services last an hour with a minister speaking from a podium, congregational hymn singing, and often greater variety and participation than traditional services, followed by coffee hour.
