About Church Of The Brethren
Church of the Brethren in Hagerstown, Maryland has served its community since 1883, when members first gathered in a local fire hall before establishing their own building in 1884. The congregation has grown from its rural Anabaptist roots to become an active presence in the heart of the city, now located at 15 South Mulberry Street. The church offers multiple Sunday worship experiences including an early morning praise worship service at 8:30 a.m. and a traditional 10:45 a.m. sanctuary service, along with Sunday school classes. Led by Pastor Twyla Rowe and supported by Director of Music Ministries Burton Young, the church emphasizes Christian nurture, worship, and community engagement through various ministries including a food pantry program on the first Sunday of each month.
