About Oseh Shalom
Oseh Shalom is a Reconstructionist Jewish congregation located in Laurel, Maryland, serving the broader Baltimore-Washington region. The community is explicitly dedicated to creating an inclusive, welcoming environment for Jews of all backgrounds, including interfaith families, LGBTQ+ couples, and those exploring Judaism. Members come from diverse racial and ethnic backgrounds, and the congregation actively works to remove barriers for people with disabilities, offering ASL interpretation at services and maintaining accessibility throughout the building. The congregation emphasizes spiritual growth through prayer, learning, and mutual support, with particular strength in its award-winning Religious School serving families with children as young as three. Oseh Shalom is also committed to tikkun olam—repairing the world—through both local social action efforts and engagement with broader communal and global issues.
