About Congregation Har Shalom
Congregation Har Shalom is a Conservative Jewish synagogue founded in 1964 in Potomac, Maryland, originally as the Seven Locks Jewish Community. The congregation grew from families holding services in living rooms and local schools to a well-established community with award-winning sacred architecture. Under the spiritual leadership of Rabbi Adam J. Raskin, along with Associate Rabbis Rachel Simmons and Shira Rosenblum, and Cantor Max Silverstone, Har Shalom serves as a vibrant center of Jewish life, learning, and celebration. The community is committed to an inclusive vision where everyone belongs, celebrating the diversity of its congregants. Beyond worship, the congregation offers religious education for children and youth, adult learning programs, family events, and active organizations including a men's club and sisterhood.
