About Glastonbury Abbey

Our Lady of Glastonbury Abbey is a Benedictine Catholic monastery in Hingham, Massachusetts, founded in 1954 to continue the 1,500-year tradition of St. Benedict. Located on peaceful, wooded grounds about 25 minutes south of Boston, the Abbey welcomes all visitors regardless of faith background to experience monastic life rooted in prayer, work, and community. The monks gather throughout the day for the Liturgy of the Hours and Mass, following the timeless rhythm of ora et labora. Visitors may join the monks for these liturgies, walk the grounds, spend time in quiet reflection in the Abbey Church, or visit the gift and bookstore. The Abbey embodies the Benedictine principle that every guest should be received as Christ.
