About First Congregational Church

First Congregational Church, known locally as the big white church on Plympton Street, has served Middleboro since 1694 as a beacon of faith rooted in the Reformed Protestant tradition. Under the pastoral leadership of Matt Carpenter, who joined the congregation in November 2024, the church treasures Scripture, upholds truth, and extends love to all who walk through its doors. Worship services are held Sunday mornings at 9:30 am in a traditional style featuring a mix of old and new hymns, with communion celebrated on the first Sunday of each month. The church welcomes families with nursery care for ages 0-3 and Children's Church during services, while throughout the week members engage in Bible studies, prayer groups, and youth ministries including Pilgrim Club for elementary students and Youth Group for middle and high schoolers. The church community is casual and inviting, with handicapped-accessible buildings and a large parking lot to accommodate visitors.
