About Congregation Beth Israel
Congregation Beth Israel is a Reform Jewish community located in North Adams, Massachusetts, welcoming people of all backgrounds and financial circumstances to its warm, inclusive spiritual home. Led by Rabbi Rachel Barenblat, whose gifts of poetry and song are central to the congregation's spiritual life, the community has adapted continuously over its more than 125-year history to make Judaism relevant, meaningful, and joyful. Services feature traditional liturgy alongside contemporary poetry, chant, and song, designed to touch body, heart, mind, and spirit while connecting participants with something greater than themselves. The congregation gathers in its beautiful sanctuary with sweeping views of Mount Greylock's foothills, and members may participate in-person or via Zoom in services and activities. Beyond worship, the community builds Jewish connections through events, learning opportunities, and service projects, and welcomes visitors regardless of their knowledge of Jewish prayer traditions.
