About First Churches

First Churches of Northampton is an open and affirming congregation rooted in over 370 years of history, tracing its origins to 1654 when Northampton was first settled. This united church of the American Baptist Churches USA and United Church of Christ welcomes all people without regard to race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, ability, sexual orientation, economic status, or any other difference. Located in a historic stone Gothic building at the heart of downtown Northampton, the church extends God's extravagant welcome as it walks in the way of Jesus. Beyond weekly Sunday worship, First Churches hosts a diverse array of community events including Bible study, centering prayer groups, men's gatherings, and serves as a cultural meetinghouse for the Pioneer Valley.
