About Orleans United Methodist Church
Orleans United Methodist Church, located at the corner of Main Street and Route 28 in Orleans, Massachusetts, welcomes all people into the full life and ministries of the church, celebrating the congregation's diversity across ethnicity, race, economic circumstance, age, sexual orientation, family, gender, and abilities. Founded around 1820 by circuit rider Rev. Pliny Brett during the Second Great Awakening, the church has deep roots in Cape Cod's Methodist heritage, with its present building dedicated in 1838 and later enhanced with beautiful stained glass windows, a bell tower, and other improvements in the late 1800s. The congregation strives to deepen faith, sustain fellowship and outreach, and advocate for justice for all, recognizing that the church's mission is grounded in Christ's example of inclusion and service. Today, Orleans United Methodist Church continues this legacy as a welcoming community for both longtime members and new visitors seeking spiritual growth and meaningful connection.
