About Sisters Of Saint Joseph
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Catholic congregation with deep historical roots tracing back to seventeenth-century France and established in Philadelphia since 1847. The Sisters are dedicated to their founding charism of uniting neighbor with neighbor and neighbor with God, engaging in spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Based in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia, the congregation comprises approximately 500 Catholic Sisters who live and work across twelve states, responding to the urgent challenges facing the Church and society. Their ministry has historically included education, healthcare, orphan care, and community aid services.
