About International Samaritan

International Samaritan is a Christ-centered organization based in Ann Arbor, Michigan, dedicated to serving vulnerable populations living in and near garbage dumps around the world. Since 1994, the organization has connected supporters with families in extreme poverty across multiple continents, including Ethiopia, Honduras, Jamaica, Guatemala, Kenya, and Uganda. Built on Catholic Social Teaching, International Samaritan focuses on breaking cycles of generational poverty through holistic scholarships, clean water and safe spaces initiatives, and year-long partnership programs that engage families, schools, and churches in the United States. The organization emphasizes education as a pathway out of poverty, supporting scholars throughout their academic journey with tuition, school supplies, food, and basic health services. One hundred percent of donations since 2019 have gone directly to services in developing nations, made possible by the generosity of founding families and ongoing community support.
