About Hesed
Hesed is a developing Reformed church presence in Detroit, focused on neighborhoods that have experienced disinvestment. It is a joint effort of the Christian Reformed Church and the Reformed Church in America, with current neighborhood presence in Brightmoor and Morningside. The name “Hesed” comes from a Hebrew word often translated “loyal love,” and the church connects it with Jonah 4:2 and the phrase “abounding in love.” Its work centers on faithful presence and community engagement in Detroit neighborhoods.
