About Kentwood Baptist Church
Kentwood Baptist Church in Kentwood traces its beginnings to a Sunday school started in 1864 at Smith School on Wing Avenue. The church was officially organized on April 1, 1869, with twenty-nine members. In 1880, the congregation purchased land at the corner of 52nd Street and Breton Avenue and built a brick building, dedicated on December 3, 1882, as Paris Baptist Church. A larger structure replaced the aging building in 1958, and the church took the name Kentwood Baptist Church on July 19, 1967. The church meets for worship on Sundays at 9:30 AM and offers children’s ministry.
