About Evangelical Lutheran Church America
The North/West Lower Michigan Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serves approximately 25,560 baptized members across 100 congregations throughout Michigan's lower peninsula. As a Lutheran faith community, the synod is grounded in God's promise found in Scripture to comfort, accompany, and redeem, believing that God works through both law and gospel to call believers to serve their neighbors. The synod emphasizes connection, grace, and welcome for all people, with congregations organized into seven geographic conferences across the region. Led by Bishop Julie Schneider-Thomas, the synod engages in various ministries and maintains partnerships including mission work in Honduras and disaster relief efforts. Visitors interested in learning more about Lutheran beliefs and local congregation details are encouraged to contact the synod offices or visit individual congregation websites for specific service information and times.
