About St John's United Church of Christ
St. John's United Church of Christ, located at the southwest corner of North Washington and Oliver Streets in downtown Owosso, Michigan, traces its roots to 1894 when fifty-two men founded the church as an inclusive community after being excluded from another local congregation. The church has evolved through several denominational mergers, becoming part of the United Church of Christ in 1957, and remains committed to the denomination's motto, "That they may all be one." St. John's welcomes all people regardless of race, age, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, ability, socioeconomic status, or faith background. The congregation gathers for worship on Sunday mornings and participates in active community ministry through a food pantry, free Saturday breakfast, Sunday evening dinners, and a warming center. Pastor Mike leads services that incorporate music as a spiritual practice, with sermons exploring themes such as trust, goodness, spiritual growth, and forgiveness.
