About Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption
Cathedral of Mary of the Assumption is a Catholic parish and the cathedral church for the Diocese of Saginaw. Built from 1901 to 1903, it is the third church structure to serve the St. Mary parish community on Saginaw’s east side. When the Diocese of Saginaw was established in 1938, St. Mary Parish was chosen as its cathedral, and it has served as the Mother Church of the diocese for more than 75 years. The cathedral is under the patronage of Our Lady of the Assumption and underwent a complete renovation in 2016–2017. Children’s ministry is offered.
