About First Presbyterian Church
First Presbyterian Church in Saginaw has served as a cornerstone of faith in the Saginaw Valley since its establishment in 1838, making it the first church founded in the region. The congregation worships in a historic 1885 sanctuary featuring Romanesque Revival architecture and houses the beautiful Casavant organ installed during 1988 renovations. This welcoming and inclusive Presbyterian community emphasizes Christ's love and maintains an open, accepting atmosphere for all of God's followers. Beyond worship, First Presbyterian actively serves the broader community through ministries including an Ecumenical Food Pantry that provides food to over 700 families monthly and a vibrant knitting ministry that creates prayer shawls, blankets, and hand-crafted items for those in need. The church celebrates its diverse congregation as one joyful family united in faith and service.
