About Hope for the Community Food Shelf - Food Distribution Center
Hope for the Community is a humanitarian food distribution organization serving the Twin Cities area since its founding in 2010 during the Great Recession. Operating from nine locations across the region, the organization has grown to serve approximately 1,800 families weekly and distributed 2.3 million pounds of groceries to 96,000 families in 2024, making it one of Minnesota's largest food shelves. Led by founder Dr. Alan Goracke, the organization relies on 130 weekly volunteers and has secured USDA/TEFAP certification to provide nutritious food assistance. The Blaine location operates as a drive-thru and contactless food distribution center, welcoming anyone in need of food support to visit during operating hours.
