About Old Catholic Church of The Good Shepard
The Old Catholic Church of the Good Shepherd is a welcoming parish of the Holy Cross Old Catholic Diocese, led by Rev. Steve Josephson, a former Lutheran pastor with over 25 years of ministry experience. Rooted in early unified Catholic traditions while embracing modern relevance, this congregation shares core Catholic beliefs including the Seven Sacraments and apostolic succession, while maintaining distinctive Old Catholic practices such as accepting birth control, ordaining women as priests and deacons, and permitting clergy to marry. The parish gathers for Saturday evening Mass at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in White Bear Lake, Minnesota, serving a warm and inclusive community that averages 10 to 15 parishioners. The church emphasizes openness to all seekers and unchurched individuals looking to grow in faith, hope, and love within a less hierarchical, more layperson-driven expression of Catholic Christianity.
