About Sisters Of Saint Joseph
The Sisters of Saint Joseph of Philadelphia is a Catholic religious congregation with deep historical roots tracing back to 17th century France and established in Philadelphia since 1847. The community of approximately 500 sisters is devoted to incarnating their charism of unioning love—connecting people with God and with one another—through spiritual and corporal works of mercy. Based in the Chestnut Hill neighborhood of Philadelphia with their motherhouse at Monticello, the sisters have ministered across twelve states in hospitals, schools, orphanages, and community service. Their mission centers on addressing urgent challenges of poverty, marginalization, and vulnerability while maintaining their founding spirit of being ready for any good work that serves their neighbors and the broader world.
