About Mount Zion Baptist Church
Mount Zion Baptist Church is one of the oldest churches organized in Nashville, Tennessee, having been founded in 1866 just three years after the Emancipation Proclamation. The church was established by Reverend Jordan Bransford and a group of inspired worshippers and now operates under the leadership of Bishop Joseph W. Walker III. Mount Zion is a Word-centered ministry committed to evangelizing the lost, equipping believers, and providing holistic ministry to the community and the world. The church emphasizes worship in spirit and truth, embracing freedom in worship and the uncompromising message of Jesus Christ. With a vision of growth through studying God's Word, the congregation has expanded from 175 members when Bishop Walker began his pastorate in 1992 to several thousand members today, now operating multiple campuses across the Nashville area including locations in Brentwood, Jefferson Street, Antioch, and Old Hickory.
