About Shady Grove Baptist Church
Shady Grove Baptist Church in Hattiesburg traces its beginning to 1864, when African American pioneers broke ties with Providence Baptist Church of the Kelly Settlement Community. Rev. Reginald Woullard first preached as pastor on February 20, 2005. The church’s campus includes a sanctuary built in November 1993 with a fellowship hall and Sunday school classrooms, as well as the Rev. Dr. R.W. Woullard, Jr. Family Life Center, dedicated in 2016 with seating for 1,000. Shady Grove has also maintained a mission connection with Monrovia, Liberia, helping remodel churches and orphanages, dig wells, and provide Bibles, medical supplies, and clothing. A youth group is among its programs.
