About Hope United Church of Christ
Hope United Church of Christ is a historic De Soto congregation with roots in the First Congregational Church and Friedens Evangelical Church, which merged after the congregation formed unofficially in 1947 and officially in 1955. The church building’s cornerstone was laid in 1889 by the First Congregational Church. Sunday Morning Worship is held at 10:30 AM in a traditional style, with Marilyn Ellis serving as organist since 1972. Pastor Bruce Jovaag has served the church since July 2021. The congregation offers children’s ministry, a youth group, small groups, and nursery care for children under age six during morning worship.
