About St. Mary's Episcopal Church
St. Mary's Episcopal Church is a historic Episcopal parish in downtown Kansas City and describes itself as the city’s oldest and most diverse Episcopal church. The parish began in 1857 as St. Luke’s Church and is part of the Diocese of West Missouri, The Episcopal Church, and the Anglican Communion. St. Mary’s was founded in 1854 with the original name St. Luke’s Episcopal Church and was officially incorporated in 1857. The current church building was built on that land in the neo-Gothic style and was completed in 1887.
