About First Baptist Church
First Baptist Church in Kennett, Missouri has been serving its community since 1887, when seven local Baptists organized the congregation under the leadership of Reverend M.V. Baird. The church occupies a sanctuary completed in 1920 and has expanded with educational buildings and a Family Life Center constructed in 2009 on 28 acres. First Baptist affirms traditional Baptist beliefs centered on the authority of Scripture, salvation through faith in Jesus Christ, and believer's baptism by immersion. The congregation engages in worship led by a choir and praise band, offers Bible studies and fellowship for students, children, women, and men, and partners with local organizations to serve the community through outreach events and mission work. Pastor Steven Scherer leads the church in its mission to share the gospel and make disciples in the Kennett area and beyond.
