About Metropolitan Congregations United
Metropolitan Congregations United is a faith-based organization rooted in St. Louis that brings together member congregations to put their spiritual values into action for social and political change. MCU develops leaders who work across congregations and communities to address systemic injustice and promote the common good. The organization focuses on three key areas: decriminalization of Black residents through efforts to break the school-to-prison pipeline, environmental justice and community partnerships, and ending discrimination against formerly incarcerated people. MCU operates on the principle that congregations have both a right and responsibility to engage in their neighborhoods and advocate for policy change at the local, metropolitan, and state levels. Rather than a single congregation, MCU is a membership organization comprising multiple congregations and institutional partners united by shared values of faith-driven justice work.
