About Oasis International Ministries
Oasis International Ministries is a faith-based organization founded in 1989 by Mark and Joani Akers to serve refugee families resettling in the Saint Louis area. Rooted in Christian conviction to love and welcome neighbors, the ministry provides comprehensive support including furnished housing, household items, clothing, English and citizenship classes, and community connection for families from over 50 countries fleeing war and violence. Located in South St. Louis City since 2006, Oasis partners with churches, organizations, and individuals to help refugees transition and thrive in their new home, operating with the belief that welcoming the stranger is a core expression of faith.
