About St. John's United Church of Christ
St. John's United Church of Christ is a Black-led, radically inclusive congregation deeply rooted in North St. Louis with a 160-year history of faith and community commitment. Under the leadership of Reverend Michelle Higgins, the church's first woman senior pastor, St. John's embraces a mission centered on love, justice, and liberation. The congregation gathers weekly for Sunday School at 10 a.m. followed by worship at 11 a.m., and actively celebrates cultural heritage months and hosts community engagement events throughout the year. St. John's is known for its intersectional approach to faith, connecting Christian practice with progressive liberation movements and emphasizing the gospel imperative of social justice. The church welcomes visitors to join their beloved community for spiritual growth, fellowship, and meaningful participation in the work of justice and healing.
