About Council Of Churches-Ozarks
The Council of Churches of the Ozarks, originally founded in 1969 as the Springfield Area Council of Churches by Rev. Dr. Dorsey Levell and community leaders from thirteen churches, is an ecumenical Christian organization dedicated to serving the most vulnerable in the region. Operating under the vision that churches working together accomplish far more than any single congregation alone, the Council coordinates compassionate outreach across more than 70 member churches and serves over 6,000 active supporters. The organization runs multiple programs including the area's largest food pantry (Crosslines), shelter services, youth education initiatives, senior advocacy, and community repair services, reaching into 49 counties across Southwest Missouri. With a consolidated mission to improve quality of life through service in the name of Jesus Christ, the Council has grown from a single food pantry program to a comprehensive community outreach network that helped over 81,000 neighbors in recent years.
