About Our Lady of the Rockies

Our Lady of the Rockies is a Catholic memorial and chapel located atop the Continental Divide near Butte, Montana. Built between 1979 and 1985 through the dedicated efforts of community volunteers from all demographics, the statue stands as the fourth tallest in the United States and serves as a nondenominational tribute to mothers and women everywhere. The site features a chapel, memorial wall honoring mothers from around the world, and welcomes visitors seeking to honor and remember the women in their lives. Positioned at the dramatic intersection of the Continental Divide, the location draws pilgrims and tourists from across the globe to this sacred summit, where the landscape itself—with water flowing to both the Atlantic and Pacific—reflects the spiritual significance of motherhood and feminine strength.
