About Montana Synod ELCA
The Montana Synod is one of 65 synods of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, serving 25,000 baptized members across 116 congregations in Montana and Northern Wyoming. With roots tracing back to 1881 when Norwegian-American families settled in south-central Montana, the synod has grown to include ordained pastors, deacons, and lay ministry associates dedicated to sharing the grace of God. The synod emphasizes a strong theological foundation focused on God's grace extended to all people, seeking to live out faith through love, mercy, justice, and peace.
