First Congregational Church is a United Church of Christ congregation in Hastings, founded in 1879. The church’s worship is described as contemporary and blended, and its ministries include children’s ministry and youth group. Its building also serves the wider community through regular hosted groups and activities: the American Red Cross is there every Thursday, PFLAG meets on the third Monday of each month in Grabill Hall, and monthly cooking classes also take place in Grabill Hall. The pastor noted by the church returned from retirement to serve while the congregation was between pastors.
