About St. Sebastian Serbian Orthodox Church

St. Sebastian Serbian Orthodox Mission Parish is a welcoming Orthodox Christian community serving northwestern Nevada from its location in Carson City. The parish traces its spiritual roots to Saint Sebastian Dabovich, the first Orthodox priest born in the United States, who established Orthodox communities across the western states in the late 1800s. The current Carson City mission was established in 2019 and is led by V. Rev. Norman Kosanovich. The parish community includes both Serbian Orthodox families and American converts to Orthodox Christianity, united in their commitment to traditional Christian faith and practice. Visitors are invited to experience weekly services including Saturday Vespers, Sunday Matins at 9:00 a.m., and Divine Liturgy at 10:00 a.m., followed by a fellowship meal. Inquirer classes on Orthodox Christianity are held throughout the year for those interested in learning more about the faith.
