About Thrift Depot
The Thrift Depot in Sparks is part of the Reno-Sparks Gospel Mission, a Christian nonprofit organization founded in 1963 to serve the homeless, hungry, addicted, and abused throughout Northern Nevada. Operating from a historic building that was once a hotel and bar, the Mission has transformed into one of the region's largest Christian service providers, having served nearly 15 million meals and helped more than 100,000 people struggling with addiction over its 60-year history. The organization takes a holistic approach to recovery, combining faith-based support with practical assistance including housing, meals, clothing, mentorship, and a rigorous 13-month addiction recovery program grounded in Christian teaching. The Mission's philosophy emphasizes both compassion and accountability, meeting people at their point of crisis while encouraging personal responsibility and spiritual transformation through Christ. The Thrift Depot operates as a retail outlet supporting these broader community services.
