About Allwood Community Church
Allwood Community Church is an open, inclusive Reformed congregation located in Clifton, New Jersey, with roots tracing back to 1925 when a group of local residents gathered to worship and provide religious education for their children. The church has evolved from its humble beginnings in the local firehouse to become an established community institution, formally affiliating with the Reformed Church in America in 1932 while maintaining its commitment to hospitality and outreach. Under the pastoral leadership of Reverend Nancy Hoerner, the congregation emphasizes community, welcome, and inclusion as central to Christian faith, viewing the church as a place of refuge and care where all are called into ministry with God's people. The church family activities are intentionally intergenerational, providing opportunities for families to worship and play together. In 2011, Allwood Community Church was recognized as the 12th Reformed Church Congregation to declare itself open and affirming of all God's people, reflecting its deep commitment to radical welcome and healing hospitality.
