About Ohel Yaacob Congregation

Ohel Yaacob Congregation is a Syrian Jewish synagogue founded in 1980 to serve the growing Syrian community on the Jersey Shore. Beginning as a small neighborhood minyan in homes and garages, the congregation grew to over 750 members and completed construction of its permanent building in 1984. Named in honor of Chief Rabbi Jacob S. Kassin, the synagogue is dedicated to preserving Syrian Jewish traditions while fostering spiritual growth across all generations. The congregation offers engaging programs, meaningful services, and extensive Torah classes led by its team of rabbis, including Rabbi Eli Mansour, Rabbi Moshe Malka, Rabbi Yaakov Elbaz, and Rabbi David Shelby.
