About Mt Pleasant Baptist Church
Mt Pleasant Baptist Church is a Baptist congregation in Edison with roots reaching back to 1928, when it began as a mission of Christian believers. The church was incorporated in New Jersey in 1962. Its current church building was dedicated in 1951, and the congregation moved to a new edifice in 1985. The church’s history includes long pastoral leadership, including Rev. Samuel C. Carpenter beginning in 1965, Rev. B. R. Mims as the fifth pastor in 1995, and Rev. Tom J. Culley, elected in 2009 as the sixth pastor in the church’s history. Worship is traditional, and children’s ministry is among its programs.
