About Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church

Saint John the Baptist Ukrainian Catholic Church, founded in 1921, serves the Ukrainian Catholic community in Whippany, New Jersey, in the heart of Morris County. The parish originated when Ukrainian immigrants from the Lemkivschyna region sought to establish their own spiritual home, eventually forming a thriving congregation of approximately 230 families. The church features a newly consecrated building completed in 2013, along with the 24,000 square foot Ukrainian American Cultural Center of New Jersey, which serves as a hub for worship, education, and community gatherings. The parish maintains an active spiritual life through the Divine Liturgy, altar servers, prayer groups, a church choir, Bible study groups, catechism classes, and various cultural and civic organizations. Visitors are warmly invited to experience the rich Byzantine liturgical tradition and participate in the vibrant parish community.
