Hoboken Community Church has roots in the city dating to 1856, when it was founded as the German Evangelical Church of Hoboken. Renamed the Community Church of Hoboken in 1967, the congregation represents both the United Methodist and Reformed Church traditions. The church welcomes all people regardless of sexual orientation, race, gender, economic status, social status, or political affiliation. Its local partnerships include In Jesus Name Ministries, The Hoboken Shelter, and the Hudson School, and its community garden offers fresh vegetables and compost.
