About Our Lady Of Czestochowa Church
Our Lady of Czestochowa Roman Catholic Church is a traditional Catholic parish in Jersey City’s Historic Paulus Hook District. Its roots reach back to land purchased by the Associates of the Jersey Company in 1804, with the original church opening in 1831 and reopening in 1870 after a fire. In 1905, St. Anthony’s Catholic Church bought the building to serve its Polish parish, and the church was renamed for the shrine in Poland that houses a beloved icon of the Virgin Mary. The parish also sponsors OLC School, a National Blue Ribbon Award Catholic elementary school.
