About Union Chapel Ame Church
Union Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church, located in Newark's Weequahic neighborhood since 1969, traces its roots to 1917 when faithful believers from Georgia established a Sunday school in a home on Livingston Street. Under the pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Larry D. Jennings, Sr., the congregation continues a legacy of over 107 years of worship, witness, and community service. The church maintains an active ministry schedule with diverse programs including a Dance and Drama Ministry, Christian Education Department, Music Ministry, and a Wellness Ministry, reflecting the AME tradition of combining spiritual growth with practical service to the community. Visitors are welcomed to join the congregation throughout the week for worship, prayer, and fellowship as part of Union Chapel's family of faith.
