About Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church
Our Lady of Perpetual Help Byzantine Catholic Church is a Byzantine Ruthenian Rite Catholic parish in Toms River that traces its roots to Eastern European families who settled in the area in the early 20th century. The parish was officially established in 1971 when thirty families celebrated their first Divine Liturgy, and a permanent church parish center was constructed and dedicated in 1989. As part of the Byzantine Catholic tradition, which maintains practices and spirituality spanning over a millennium, the church welcomes all to join their community in worshipping Jesus Christ. The parish is part of the Eparchy of Passaic and maintains full communion with the Pope of Rome, representing one of twenty-three Eastern Catholic Churches in that communion. Visitors are invited to experience the rich faith and heritage of this community during their Sunday morning gatherings.
