Pilgrim Rest Missionary Baptist Church was founded in September 1923 by eight faithful believers and Rev. York Haire, officially organizing one month later with Rev. John L. Steward as the first pastor. The congregation has grown from its humble beginnings into a cornerstone of the Benton Harbor community, with a rich history of expansion and renovation reflecting decades of faith and perseverance. Under the leadership of Pastor Carlton A. Lynch since 2017, the church has embraced digital ministry and continues to serve through more than 21 established ministries including food and clothing outreach, jail ministry, and community evangelism. The church remains committed to equipping believers for ministry and building up the Body of Christ through worship, service, and spiritual growth in the Benton Harbor area.
