About Redeemer Lutheran Church
Redeemer Lutheran Church in Binghamton traces its beginning to May 5, 1889, when the first services were held at the YMCA in the morning and evening. The congregation was organized as the Evangelical Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and later met in Old Iron Hall on State Street before building a chapel at Washington and Stuart Streets. In 1907, the congregation purchased its present building at Main and Chapin Streets. The Ritchie Educational Building was dedicated in 1960, reflecting the church’s long-standing presence in the city.
