About Ghana United Methodist Church
Ghana United Methodist Church in the Bronx was founded in 1986 by Rev. Jacob Owusu Sarfo to serve Ghanaian Methodist immigrants seeking worship in their native language and cultural tradition. The congregation, which has grown to over 600 members, conducts services in both English and Akan and maintains strong ties to the Methodist faith and Ghana's heritage. Under the current pastoral leadership of Rev. Dr. Samuel Acquaah-Arhin, the church offers multiple Sunday services at 9:00 AM, 11:30 AM, and 5:30 PM, along with robust prayer ministries, Bible study, and community outreach programs. The church celebrated its 40th anniversary in 2026 with year-long activities including health awareness initiatives, choral performances, and historical documentaries.
